Well another week over, but a very positive one at that. Two interviews, some temp work starting on Monday, and another interview with HP next week.
So only 3 months as Daddy daycare and back to the grindstone. I even fitted a surf in this morning to make the most of my last free day.
Some guides I can highly recommend to get back to work are on the right hand links, as well as in the highlighted text. I will also add some advice and info, that helped me get myself out there.
I will continue to post here and let you know how my temping goes and if I actually snag that elusive job.
Have a great weekend.

Getting the new Job
Have you ever thought of working in the Oil & Gas industry? I used to and can vouch for the income and time-off it provides. Here is a link to a guide to Oil & Gas jobs, hope it helps Click Here.
Being and Ex-Geologist provides me with this option, but I am currently waiting on a few IT related jobs that will keep me closer to home and with my family.
One way to start getting that new job is to write a Cover Letter addressing the criteria of the advertisement, or even just outlining why you would be good for the role.
The next is to write a Resume explaining achievements, rather than simply what your responsibilities have been.
Finally wow them in the interview, this isn't as easy at it sounds and, and may require some Interview Research or Guidance to build your confidence.

A new day - rain at last
Well today has been interesting so far, firstly I have an interview at UWA, and next one at a mining company as Project manager, so when it rains it pours.
Anyway aside to me trying to re-join the workforce,their are some interesting tips with Centre link;
1: Be persistent
2: Get them to explain all the options (Parental payment / unemployment etc..)
3: Go to the centres as soon as they open otherwise you waste half your day in the queues.
4: Seek advice from friends and family as to entitlements.
Also some of the google links on this site may help you find work, or at least are a good place to start.
I will let you know how my interviews go...fingers crossed.

Redundancy - Day 70
Well I thought I'd start my blog with my story of being a full-time dad.
Late Nov 08, I was happily working away for IT Consultancy in Perth, and one day the mining collapse (Global Economic Crisis) hit us and the next day I was on the streets. Well not literally, but no job and a wife and child to support.
Anyway after the initial shock, I rang around the recruitment companies and had some OK feedback but things were slowing for everyone. So post xmas and now mid-feb I am still looking for work and have mounting debt.
The great thing about this has been the time I have had to spend with my family and daughter. I am not sure if I would ever have had the time to engage and become so close to my daughter who is 17 months old.
I am avidly looking for work, but use th quiet times to get back to my childhood and play and smile and laugh with her. Isn't it amazing what opportunities arise from what at the time seem to be life changing catastrophic events.
